The Therapeutic Process

There are many ways to practice therapy and you are likely to hear different perspectives from different therapists. Below is a description of how therapy can be helpful.

I believe that when starting therapy it is useful to have a space to talk about what feels off, it can feel good to say what is not working anymore and make it clear and distinct. Then it can be helpful getting your story straight, which means understanding where you are coming from and where you are wanting to go. If your path from A to B is being blocked, therapy can help you understand what is in the way.

Generally it can be challenging to be aware of everything that is going on internally. Therapy can help broaden your awareness of your inner world so that you have a better sense of what has been driving your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. With that awareness you can then learn to navigate your needs and wants in a healthy way.
